FRIDAY JUNE 8, 2018 EVENTS
Facebook Event Page for June 8, 2018 https://www.facebook.com/events/162228261162850/ Please check “Going” or “Interested”
Baby Steffen Rivenburg was killed while in DCS custody June 8, 2017. This event has been scheduled to coincide with the anniversary of his tragic death. His story was covered extensively by Terri LaPoint on MedicalKidnap.comhttp://medicalkidnap.com/2018/03/20/tennessee-family-seeks-lawsuit-for-malpractice-negligence-and-wrongful-death-over-down-syndrome-baby-taken-off-of-life-support/
We are planning to meet up downtown Nashville at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 8 and marching on the sidewalk on Charlotte Pike from the Supreme Court Bldg.401 7th Ave. N, Nashville, to the Capitol, to the Historic Courthouse then across the Woodland Street Bridge to the Juvenile Justice Center 100 Woodland St., Nashville, 37213 http://www.cmaworld.com/cma-music-festival/wp-content/uploads/sites/15/2015/03/downtown_nashville-2.pdf
There is a country music festival going on, so downtown will be crowded PARKING WILL LIKELY BE SCARCE SO PLAN AHEAD! The Juvenile Justice Center is on the south side of Woodland Street, next to Nissan Arena, but you don’t see it on the map. What we do depends on how many people plan to participate and what they want to do.
If you can’t meet us at 2, no worries! Just catch up with us! It is a 1 mile (one way) walk down Charlotte and if you don’t make a bunch of stops along the way, like we are going to do, It is about 20 min. So, if you can’t join us till 3, just walk east till you find us!
Try to come early and if you have trouble parking close, we have a good downtown bus system including a free bus http://www.nashvillemta.org/Nashville-MTA-Music-City-Circuit.asp and a day pass is $3.25 Parking is likely to be hard to find and expensive and a “park and ride” may be a good option. http://www.nashvillemta.org/Nashville-MTA-Park&Ride.asp
After we end at the Juvenile Justice center, between 4:30-8 June 8. you can continue to display signs so those in rush-hour traffic can be informed, and the attendees of the Fan Fair will see us. Grab a bite to eat, sit and rest a while. Sightsee….whatever. I would like to have some literature to pass out to anyone waiting at stop lights, or whoever is passing by who is willing to take it. I think it is more effective to be spread out, I think we get more eyes that way. We will get lots of exposure–people come from all over the world.
At 8:00 p.m. June 8 We will be having a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Baby Steffen and all the people who have died or who live in constant pain because of judicial corruption. We can reconvene at the sidewalk between Legislative Plaza and the Capitol Building. There are no candles or open flames allowed at Legislative Plaza and there is a wedding there. so we will have to light the candles elsewhere. Anyone who wants to come to the candlelight vigil needs to touch base with me in case we change the location. lydiahubbell@msn.com
I want this to not only be a remembrance of a tragic death, but also a celebration of family.
FOR SATURDAY JUNE 9 Nashville Public Library, Goodlettsville Branch 12:30-4:30
DAY TWO, JUNE 9 FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE IS HERE Please check “going” or “interested”:
https://www.facebook.com/events/124946198351351/?active_tab=about
June 9, 12:30 we will be meeting at the Goodlettsville Public Library, thanks to Mattie Mitchell with “Liam Changed The World” for getting us the room, which will seat 100…..and I hope we fill it up!
I envision something very similar to what Ted Fogg put together in Georgia for the Nancy Schaefer Remembrance…but more “kid-friendly” and the speakers will likely be limited to 20-30 min.
We need–
1. People to attend-Bring a carload! Especially June 9—I want to fill every seat and I want people to bring their whole families!
2. literature to distribute if you want, signs, posters, SIDEWALK CHALK only for public sidewalks which are a public forum!
3 exposure….We can use help promoting the event. we need as many people as possible to know about this event and share it. What happened to Baby Steffen was the most horrible abuse by court order I have ever heard of. People need to understand what happened and that we have to rein in the judges.
4. If you sing or have a portable instrument..bring them and talk with me ahead of time if possible. Harmonica, maracas, tambourine, jaw harp, kazoo, anything!I will bring my ukulele and tambourine and some other rhythm instruments. Mostly for the march.
We are having various speakers talk about the need for judicial accountability to preserve family integrity and other issues of concern to families.
